W. Barry Kahn has been a managing director of The Hettig/Kahn Companies since December 1977.  The Hettig/Kahn companies, located in Houston, have been involved in the development, construction, and management of thousands of affordable units financed with low income housing tax credits in addition to market rate units and commercial buildings.  He has been an advocate for affordable housing since 1994 and is a past President of the Texas Affiliation of Affordable Housing Providers.  Mr. Kahn is a Multifamily Trustee, member of the Steering Committee of the Housing Credit Group, Vice Chair of the Legal Action Committee, on the Housing Finance Committee, on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Home Builders; and a board member of the Texas Association of Builders, as well as on several of its committees.  He is also a member of the Housing Advisory Group, and a founding member of the Texas Builders Foundation.  Mr. Kahn was named Developer of the Year in 2010 by the Texas Association of Builders and received a US Congressional Recognition Award for South Acres Ranch, a single family for rent affordable housing development.
